Youth Leadership Henry 2025-2026 Information
Youth Leadership Henry, a countywide leadership program for high school sophomores, is designed to develop leadership potential and to acquaint participants with community needs, problems, and resources through interaction with local leaders and decision makers. The program will allow participants to interact with community leaders in examining a variety of issues that affect Henry County. Participants will gain insight into the complex decision-making process that is essential in addressing community issues, and they will learn more about the cultural and economic opportunities and resources available within this area.
ELIGIBILITY
All sophomores enrolled in a Henry County school (public, private, virtual school, home school) or are a Henry County resident are eligible. Interested students should:
Attendance at the Reception/Orientation night and Teambuilding Day event is essential to gain the full benefit of the program; therefore, attendance is mandatory and non-negotiable at these events.
Attendance at the monthly programs is mandatory. Any student with more than one absence will not graduate and will not receive a certificate of completion nor graduate the program in May. All participants may attend the graduation. Participants will be allowed to make up one missed program (Excluding the Orientation and Teambuilding Dates) by attending a Henry County Board of Commissioners Meeting, Henry County Board of Education Meeting, or a meeting of any of the 4 City Councils in Henry County and preparing a 500 word persuasive essay, typed and single-spaced as directed in the "Program Makeup Assignment" sheet to be handed out at Orientation. The essay and signed sheet must be presented to the Youth Leadership Henry Board of Directors no later than 1 week prior to Graduation for review.
Participants are carefully chosen through a process conducted by the Youth Leadership Henry Board of Directors. Each class is limited; therefore, you are encouraged to submit your application as soon as possible. The program fee is $175.00 per person. This cost is due at Orientation, after acceptance into the program. If accepted, applicants will be informed of their acceptance into the program no later than September 12, 2025 via the email address provided on the application.

SCHEDULE FOR 2025-2026 Youth Leadership Henry requires a commitment from each of the participating students. Missing class dates can result in the inability to complete the program requirements needed to graduate from the program. Missing Orientation or Teambuilding Day specifically, will immediately disqualify a student from participating at all. The schedule for the 2025-2026 class is as follows:

- Demonstrate leadership in school and/or community activities.
- Express an interest in furthering their knowledge of Henry County.
- Commit to full participation and 100% attendance in the program.
- Receive one professional recommendation, and approval from their principal and parents to participate.
- Have at least an unweighted 84 numeric average -or- unweighted GPA of 3.0, to be provided by your school counselor.
- Pay the enrollment fee of only $175 after acceptance into the program – Due at Orientation Night upon acceptance.
